Stuart and Marilyn Cook
About Us
Stu and Marilyn have served as missionaries in South Africa since 1966. A generation has passed, not only in lifespans but also in common mission practice. In the present day a missionary commonly serves a single term in a cross-cultural field.
The Cooks, from pioneer family backgrounds, have done pioneering work during these forty years. Stu, a Wyoming boy, and Marilyn, from Western Nebraska, have opened up new territory for the Lord, first by new church planting in Casper, WY and then in South Africa. Congregations, ministries and a wide variety of Christian projects have begun in their home.
Stu holds a MA degree (Ministerial), MSc in Guidance and Counselling, and PhD in Anthropology. Marilyn has no degrees but has five years in Biblical studies and social work.
After many years in Johannesburg inner-city work, Stu and Marilyn now live and serve in the Waterburg Mountains, Limpopo Province, in northern South Africa, and continue to open up new areas of ministry.
Today the next generation of the family is involved in active Christian service in South Africa.
- Billy and Connie Wicks do welfare work and administration for African-led ministries in Johannesburg. They have four sons.
- Richard and Cathie Aub, also in Johannesburg, each operate their own businesses as well as actively serve the Lord. Cathie’s IT and publishing skills are especially valuable. They are parents of four young children.
- Kathleen is a care-giver at Kids Haven, a large children’s home.
What we do:
Aletheia International Ministries is a registered not-for-profit organization established by Stu and Marilyn in 1975. It’s stated purpose is “to promote the Gospel by any means whatsoever”, especially by religious, educational and welfare activities.
A regional committee has now been appointed in Limpopo Province and is actively functioning in two separate locales in the Country.
